In science we have started talking about parts of a plant. We will continue with this for the next few weeks.
Our class has started Economics in Social Studies. We will be working with currency during this time and children will have a small project that entails them to think of a business they would like to operate/own and present that to the class.
Each child has been assigned a bi-weekly 'goal' for our accelerated reader program. They may not get homework every night, but they WILL be expected to read each night for thirty minutes. We quiz on Wednesdays and if they get 100 percent they get a free pass on Friday's final test.
We are well on our way to finishing our first division unit. Our test is this week! We are taking it very slow, as we're still working on perfecting our multiplication facts in some areas. But, as I remind students, division and multiplication go side by side and building on those skills will help them in both areas.
We have been doing winter themed projects this winter in art. We will resume the elements of art soon. Our class has finished Stone Fox and have done some small projects with the story too.
We have snack twice a day. It is important that your child comes with at least one snack a day. The morning snack is very important as we do a lot of things in the morning and need that brain food!
