Reconciliation and Communion
First Reconciliation and First Communion are usually administered when a child has reached the age of reason (second grade). It is normally handled within the youth religious education program or Catholic school by catechists and teachers. Older children and adults seeking to join in full communion with the Catholic Church will go through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). If they have not been baptized, they will be prepared to be baptized, given an opportunity to make a first confession, be confirmed, and receive Holy Communion. If they have been baptized, they will go through the same process without baptism. Initial contact will be made by Fr. Joseph to become familiar with those requesting the sacrament. Preparation for any of these sacraments can be done with the assistance of Deacon Tom Fuhrmann, Deacon Craig Voldberg, or Bob Lecheler.
